ST. CHARLES, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A man drowned Saturday after entering the water of the Mississippi from the back of a boat.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, they were called around 3 p.m. to 2 Branch Island, in St. Charles County, for a drowning. They say a man entered the water for unknown reasons from the back of a boat on the river.

MSHP says bystanders got him from the water and started CPR. However, the man was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

This is the second drowning in the St. Louis region this weekend. On Friday, a 17-year-old drowned while swimming in the Meramec River in Crawford County. Last weekend, a 20-year-old man was swept into the Mississippi River from Island 525, also in St. Charles County.
