Two men killed, another injured after two shootings in North City on Tuesday

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) - Two men were killed, and another was injured following two shootings less than six hours apart in the Kingsway East neighborhood in north St. Louis on June 20.

Police responded to a shooting in the 1900 block of Marcus Avenue, between Martin Luther King Drive and St. Louis Avenue, around 3:45 p.m.

Police said a 26-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the head. They said he was not conscious but was breathing. He was taken to an area hospital and was pronounced dead. He was later identified as Terrell Johnson.

A 23-year-old man arrived at an area hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his arm, police said. He has been listed in stable condition.

Police had initially only released information about the victim they found at the scene on the 1900 block of Marcus Avenue.

Homicide detectives were requested to the scene and have assumed the investigation.

Police said they have released a warrant for first-degree murder, first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action against John Wooten, 25, in relation to the shooting at the 1900 block of Marcus.

Another man was shot and killed at the cross-section of Labadie Avenue and Marcus Avenue just after 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Police said at the scene they found another man dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim in that homicide was identified as 23-year-old Jacob Merchant. Homicide detectives have also assumed the investigation of this shooting.

The two shootings happened approximately half a mile apart.
