Veteran surprises daughter at school

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) — During his 10 years of service in the Army, Jason Merritt was deployed four times, leaving behind a loving wife and young daughter.

After being medically discharged, the veteran found his dream job working for the government. While he loves his job, he is still deployed and away from his family.

After four months of deployment, the First Alert 4 Surprise Squad was there when Jason was reunited with his daughter.

The Surprise Squad scheduled a weather lecture with First Alert 4 Meteorologist Matt Chambers. With a cafeteria full of kindergartners, a weather presentation and a sloth, Jason was welcomed home.
