Georgia police department changes policy after body camera captures ‘unacceptable’ conduct
(InvestigateTV) — A Georgia police department changed its policy regarding traffic citations after a body camera captured conduct that city leaders called “unacceptable.”
A police chief was formally reprimanded after body camera footage captured him trying to get a warning issued for a driver rather than a traffic citation in exchange for free oil changes, according to records obtained by Atlanta News First Investigates.
In October 2025, about two months after the incident, Chief Steven Bannister was formally reprimanded.
Investigative reporter Brendan Keefe reached out to the interim police chief, the mayor at the time of the incident, the driver and the officer for interviews about the story.
None responded to requests for interviews.
