Surprise Squad surprises fourth grader in Metro East

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The Surprise Squad visited Delores Moye Elementary School to honor fourth grader Hayes Nelson, who was first brought to the team’s attention during a Do the Right Thing Ceremony.

Hayes, who is new to the school this year, has taken on responsibilities at home that affect his daily life. His younger sister, 3-year-old Haisley, has developmental struggles that disrupt his sleep at night. His teacher noticed Hayes falling asleep in class multiple times during his first weeks at the school.

His teacher said Hayes shows a high level of responsibility both at home and at school.

The Surprise Squad presented Hayes and his classmates with an in-class video game party, a mobile gaming van, and a pass to We Rock the Spectrum — a gift chosen in recognition of his sister Haisley.
