ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A 6-year-old boy battling leukemia got more than a studio tour when he visited First Alert 4 — he ended up delivering a live weather forecast on the air.

Caleb, who was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia at age 5, visited the First Alert 4 studios after his mother, Chelsea, mentioned to hospital staff that he loved weather and hoped one day to meet a meteorologist.

The Surprise Squad heard Caleb’s story and set him up for a tour of the First Alert 4 studios.

During the tour, the Surprise Squad and First Alert 4 Chief Meteorologist Steve Templeton appeared with a handheld anemometer, stickers and a personal weather station — complete with a rain gauge and snowfall tools — that Caleb can set up in his backyard. Caleb was also gifted tickets to an upcoming St. Louis Cardinals game.

Caleb was then asked to deliver the weather live during First Alert 4’s noon newscast. He was fitted with a red tie and suit jacket shortly before going on air.

During the forecast, Caleb confirmed mostly cloudy skies, a high of 90 degrees and the potential for strong storms. When asked what to watch for the following day, he said “tornadoes” — prompting a quick correction from Meteorologist Kent Ehrhardt, who was standing beside him.
