In April, Emmet Metzger, of New Baden, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the death of Alexis Maki.

Maki, 24, was shot and killed at her New Baden, Illinois, apartment on Nov. 4, 2023. According to the Clinton County State’s Attorney, Maki’s ex-boyfriend, Metzger, admitted to the shooting over a 911 call obtained by First Alert 4:

“I f**ked up,” Metzger said in the call. “I did something so bad. I shot my girlfriend. I need to be arrested, please?”

The 27-year-old made the panicked call around 4:20 p.m. and turned himself in to New Baden Police. According to the family, it had been about one month since the pair had broken up.
