Festus City Council strikes down petitions to be put on the ballot

FESTUS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -Festus City Council voted Monday night against petitions to recall council members and the mayor to be put on the August ballot.

The petitions were filed after a months-long debate over a proposed data center.

The petitions had been certified by the Jefferson County clerk. The council was expected to set the election, but instead voted against it.

Festus Mayor Sam Richards was the tie-breaking vote for one of the four petitions.
